We’re Hiring – Part-Time Farm Help (Nicholasville, KY)
Horse Husband Stables is seeking two dependable, horse-experienced individuals to join our team as part-time employees. This is a unique opportunity to work with a diverse herd of 28 horses—including pregnant mares, nursing foals, yearlings, and retired broodmares—while supporting the daily care of both Horse Husband Stables and Mareworthy Charities horses.
Positions Available
Morning Position – 8 hours per week
Two mornings per week, 8 AM – 12 PM (some flexibility on start time)
Must be available at least one Wednesday per month to assist with farrier appointments
Afternoon Position – 8 hours per week
Two afternoons per week, 2 PM – 6 PM (some flexibility on start time)
We will work with selected candidates to establish a consistent schedule of the same two days (Monday through Friday) that fit their availability. Flexibility is possible when requested, but reliability on committed days is essential.
Pay & Additional Opportunities
$12–$18/hour based on experience
Additional farm-sitting opportunities may be available at higher pay. Farm-sitting requires staying on property in the farm apartment attached to the main house.
Responsibilities
Feeding horses
Holding horses for the farrier and veterinarian
Grooming and light horse care
Cleaning stalls (as needed) and scrubbing water buckets
Barn care, including tidying for donor visits and tours
Removing cobwebs and keeping barns looking their best
Fence board repairs and general farm maintenance
Supporting herd health by observing and reporting any concerns
What We’re Looking For
Prior horse experience (professional or personal)
Reliability and attention to detail
Willingness to follow established farm processes
Strong work ethic and comfort with physical, outdoor labor
Eagerness to learn about Thoroughbred care across all life stages—from foaling to racing to retirement
